Margaret Morris (1891-1980) created a dance training technique that was and still is internationally recognised today as a truly holistic approach to health wellness and enjoyment.
Margaret Morris Movement (MMM) is not just dance for the sake of dance, it is the culmination of a lifetime’s work to create a dance and exercise system that encompasses the best qualities of dance, physical therapy and performance.
Underlining each exercise is the importance of the lungs, the abdomen, and feet. The Greek positions are used to strengthening not only opposition movement but the whole core strength... the angle from shoulder to hip is twisted and contracted for added strength, stability, coordination, and balance, limbering the spine in its process.
...and of course, all this for the joy of movement and expression itself, before you know it you are 'doing' an exercise and then realise you are dancing, it really is wonderful to experience.

Working at the basic & white levels with interesting and challenging variations to really put the muscle memory into practice.
Suited to most as varied abilities attend. Bringing clarity and confidence to the body & the breath in movement. With varied music of different rhythms and tempos encouraging musicality, expression & freedom of movement.

Monday Lunchtime Class
MMM Basic Dance & Movement Training aims at establishing health by correcting faults of breathing and posture to counteract the PHYSICAL lack of natural movement in civilised life.
It can be challenging and yet is very enjoyable; it is for those who wish to practise the exercises either for health, for joy or as a foundation for more strenuous training and dance training technique.
This class teaches the foundations of all movement, and how we can use the body as an expressive tool. The exercise becomes a dance, we don't dance to exercise initially.
We do touch on some small choreographed pieces by using the exercises, so no experience in dance is necessary at all, but also is welcomed.
With a great variety of music of differing rhythms and tempos, encouraging musicality, expression, confidence & freedom in movement & a strong and supple body
Conscious relaxation is of equal importance bringing clarity and confidence in movement and indeed stillness. Allowing us to take our rediscovered natural movement out into the world.
